FRANCHISING | Steps to becoming a Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip Franchisee We all have a dream. The question is how do you obtain it?  The first step is to evaluate and make a plan.  Decide what you expect from owning a business.  Are you looking for financial freedom?  Is a career change what’s important to you?  What do you expect from your franchisor?  Understand your strengths and weaknesses and decide if franchising is right for you.  Do you have the desire, motivation and financial capacity to own and operate a retail business?  Do you have knowledge and expertise that would prove helpful, such as a business background or management experience?  Are you prepared to work hard and face challenges head on?  Do you like working with people?  Do you have a few café locations in mind?   1. DO YOUR HOMEWORK  Learn everything you can about Nestlé® Toll House® Café, from the rich history of Nestlé to the wonderful products offered in the cafés. Explore this and other Nestlé websites thoroughly. Visit our cafés and try out the treats. Can this business satisfy your needs? Does it seem like a good fit? Are your goals realistic and in line with ours? 2. COMPLETE THE FRANCHISE APPLICATION Send us your application by filling out the convenient web form or download the application and fax it to our office. There is no obligation to purchase a franchise when you fill out the application, however it does tell us that you have an above average interest in our Franchise. A member of our Franchise Development Team will be in contact with you soon after.   3. RECEIVE AND REVIEW THE FDD We will review your Franchise Application and if you preliminarily qualify, you will be invited to receive our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). The FDD contains more specific information about Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip, the Franchise Agreement, Financial Statements and contains a listing of Franchisees you may contact. Review the FDD with your attorney or accountant and determine if our opportunity is compatible with your goals, dreams and financial capability.   4. CALL US TO GET ALL OF YOUR ANSWERS Call the Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip Franchise Development team with any questions you or your advisors may have. If you’re ready to continue in the process, you may want to form a Legal Entity for your new business.    5. PREPARE THE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT Next, we will prepare the Franchise Agreement and send it to you. This form has been prepared in compliance with federal and state regulations governing franchise contracts, which require a uniform agreement for each franchisee. Submit your Franchise Agreement and Franchise Fee to us for final Approval by our Executive Approval Committee. If for any reason your Franchise Agreement is not approved, your Franchise Fee will be returned immediately in its entirety.   6. SECURE A CAFE LOCATION As a Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip franchisee, you will be provided a written site selection form to use as a guideline during the site selection process, a team member of our Real Estate Team will be available if assistance is needed to locate a great spot for the café. This is where the real work begins. You know what they say…Location, Location, Location.   7. BEGIN CAFE CONSTRUCTION The Design and Construction Department will assist you in assembling your café build team, and then the construction process can begin. Our Franchise Development Manager stays in contact with you throughout the design and construction phase. Our Café Opening Task List (COTL) provides a step by step guideline for this important process and will help keep you on track. Deadlines are outlined in detail so you know exactly what must be accomplished before proceeding to the next task.   8. ATTEND THE COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM  Within two months of opening, you will attend the Nestlé® Toll House® Cafe by Chip training course at our corporate headquarters in Richardson, TX. This is a comprehensive 10 day training program where you will learn in a classroom setting and “hands on” working in one of our local cafes. Your visit will give you the full flavor of the Nestlé® Toll House® Café. Beware…eating too many sweet Nestlé® Toll House® Cafe by Chip treats is an operational hazard! 9. GRAND OPENING OF YOUR CAFE Congratulations! Your café is having its Grand Opening! The Franchise Support Team is there to support you during your opening; marketing tools are utilized to spread the word to the surrounding community to get the mouths watering!
